The Belfast Health & Social Care Trust

The Belfast Health & Social Care are Trust’s Community Mental Health Team.

The Belfast Health and Social Care Trust’s Community Mental Health Team moved to the Agápē Centre in November 2013.   We had previously been based in the Old Windsor House Psychiatric Hospital at Belfast City Hospital.

The Team, which includes Nursing, Social Work and Occupational Therapy staff, works with a client group who are managing serious and enduring mental health problems and we use the “Recovery” approach, which is very much person-centred, to hopefully help the individual recover much of the life and relationship they have lost as a result of illness.   We provide a range of supportive approaches which include counselling, medication monitoring and compliance, advocacy in terms of housing and benefit rights and assessment of need.

It is hoped that, as the Team settles in the Agape Centre, in the near future we will be able to offer a health and well-being clinic which will allow some basic health checks for blood pressure, diabetes, etc, for our clients.   We would also hope that clients will avail of the community-based activities already in place in the Agape Centre.
